Arak Aluminum Smelter of Iran

Project background
Arak Aluminum Smelter, subordinate to Iran National Aluminum Corporation, was built in the later period of 1960's and is the first aluminum production enterprise of Iran. It was expanded twice early or later in 80's and 90's and formed 5 pot lines with a capacity of 120 kt/a aluminum. The smelter is located in 5 km to Arak suburb, occupying about 232 hectare land. The main products contain T-type ingot, plate ingot, casting alloy ingot and different dimensions of round ingot, including an anode plant with a capacity of 75kt/a anode block and small amount of cathode paste.

Survey of the project
The project is expected to build a complete and modern aluminum smelter. Except building 110 kt/a pot production system and 60,500t/a anode production system, it will also plan to build public utilities such as raw material storage facility, water supply, power supply, natural gas supply for main production units and auxiliary production facilities such as test, maintenance, storage as well as living facilities for production. Arak Aluminum Smelter will be a modern aluminum smelter, which has complete production management, inspection, maintenance, storage, transportation facilities, no environment pollution and advanced tech-economic index. All the products will be 220kg and 450kg heavy melting product aluminum ingot.

NFC undertakes the design, equipment supply, technical assistance and part of construction and installation for this project that has started and is now in the phase of basic construction.
