Jarjarm Alumina Plant, located in Northeast of Islamic Republic of Iran, was built in 1993 and completed in 1999. It is designed with a capacity of 280,000 t/a alumina for production of alumina with diaspore in Iran. Czechic Technoexport Company was trusted by the client, Iran National Aluminum Corporation, to undertake main contract work of design and equipment supply in 1993. Three times commissioning were made in 1999-2000, but the process can not overpass due to fatal design defects in high pressure digestion, finally it resulted in the commissioning fail. Later Iranian party terminated the contract with Technoexport Company and selected NFC to upgrade Jajarm Alumina Plant.
The upgrading project of Jajarm was launched in Sept. 9, 2001. With close cooperation and support of Shenyang Aluminum and Magnesium Design and Research Institute and Shanxi Aluminum Plant, a local design and upgrading were done in all the related process unit except high-pressure digestion unit and producing the first ton alumina product in Iranian history by using imported gibbsite to get through process of the whole plant in March 16, 2002.
After that NFC focused on high pressure digestion unit, hot water commissioning was carried out in Line A in April 16, 2003, putting local diaspore in May and achieving stable production in May 4th.
A ceremony of put-into operation was held in Iran in June 9, 2003, and Iranian President, Governor of Khorasan Province, Minister of Iran Ministry of Mine and Metal, Director Managing of IRALCO presented themselves in the ceremony. They gave a highly appraisal to the work of NFC.
